WOW, was that QUICK!

It's hard to believe that we're done...but we actually are! Last night was a special evening while our scholars showed us just what they spent their year learning and becoming. I am so very proud of them all.

Today we will be cleaning up the cafe, taking back chairs, cleaning out lockers, and then around 11:30 we would like to walk over to Riverdale park to have a picnic and play outdoor games. If the students have discs for disc golf, they are welcome to bring them. They can dress in free dress today following the guidelines of the school. I would suggest shorts due to the weather.

Tomorrow is our assembly and the scholars may dress up and bring their stoles to wear for the school to see them. We will also be announcing the name for the next year's scholars!

THANK you all for a marvelous celebration and year....please email pictures to sgoers@gmail.com so I can post them on the blog. School email can not handle the photo sizes. I will be posting pictures this evening.

Thank you again!
I love our scholars! Mrs. G.

Rollercoasters and National Pudding Day!

Our last week of work.....included many final exams AND applying the physics that we learned from Lagoon's Physics Day by building our own roller coasters and presenting them to the class. The teams had three hours to build the roller coasters they had sketched the day before. Ms. Demeter honored us by taking time out of her busy day to come and judge each of the teams. They were graded on creativity, whether or not the coaster actually worked with their marbles, how many of Newton's laws they were able to demonstrate, and their actual presentation speaking skills.
Congratulations to Adam DeYoung, Wyatt Flint, and Sierra Williams for winning the competition. Enjoy the photos.

We also celebrated (thanks to Andrew Antczak) National Pudding Day as we took a break from the exams and went outside to enjoy our sugar yesterday!

Tuesday we will be finishing up To Kill A Mockingbird by watching the movie and having our Aunt Alexandra's Tea Party. We will also be reading Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry to get it finished before the end of the week. Wednesday is Field Day, and graduation that evening at 6:30. Thursday we will read Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry in the morning for a couple hours, and then head over to Riverdale Partk to geocache and play disc golf. If you have discs that your student can borrow, please send them on Thursday. Friday the scholars can wear their nice clothes and their graduation stoles so they can be announced at the assembly.

Thank you all for a fantastic year with your wonderful children! I am blessed!

48 Hours of Hands On Education!

Friday morning began in our classroom as we were going over our booklets and events and the lightening and thunder began. We were basically drenched through to our skin before we even entered the park at Lagoon. Spirits remained high as we found shelter in the Davis Pavilion and watched the high school students set up their roller coaster inventions. We then registered for our event and got ready to ride the sky ride. There are no photos of the drop, since the rain was coming down so hard, and I had to help the scholars determine when and where to drop. There are however photos of later in the day when the sky cleared and we actually had some sun!

Congratulations to EVERYONE who hit the bulls eye, whether their egg broke or not! Congratulations to GRACE CAMPBELL for earning third place with her drop and her container. We had a great time even though the weather was a bit nasty!

The next afternoon found the young men at Five Guys to begin our Guys' Night Out. The derby was phenomenal, the weather was perfect, the cars and trucks were INSANE.....one of the best derbies I've ever been to, and I've been frequenting them since I was a child! The guys had a great time with Cullin, Coach, and Ron, and even us ladies enjoyed the evening. There's just a sampling of photos here from the entire weekend.....
